I have lived here my whole life (40+ years), but more and more my thoughts are obsessed with the idea of getting the hell out of here.Born and raised in Vegas, now live in Reno. Reno is far different than Vegas. For one you can get to one side of the city to the other in around 20 mins. However, the biggest difference is that the city is way more "buy and support local" than Vegas is. Reno relies on a lot of mom & pop stores a lot more than Vegas.Serious violent crimes generally occur in two pockets of town, which have some of the highest crime rates of all types in the city. These are (broadly speaking, obviously there are exceptions): Oddie/Montello neighborhoods. This the area east of Sutro, west of 395, north of 80, and south of McCarran. Neil/Brinkby/Grove.

South Lake really isn't that much more $$. You can get a 2br apartment in Reno for ~1300, while a similar unit in South Lake would be closer to 1400-1500. Rooms are easily the nicest in town. Casino does have a very Vegas feel. Spa is 2nd only to the Atlantis. Atlantis is a good second choice. Not quite as nice as the Peppermill.

Reno was also my favorite Turk but Remake sure gave me an affinity for Rude. I'm hoping Rebirth continues to flesh out these characters a bunch.
